On their first visit to Ireland, TAK Ensemble bring an all-American programme featuring some of the most distinct voices in new music composition, in a programme that reveals a freshness of approach to performance. From intense interweaving and speech-like grooves to unbridled and chaotic fervor, and to serene contemplative focus, TAK Ensemble’s debut at Music Current Festival features some of the USA’s most inventive and compelling new composers. Showcasing TAK’s distinctive maximalist virtuosity, uncanny blending, and pointed precision, this programme paints a story of repertoire and relationships spanning the ensemble's eleven year history.
“One of the most prominent ensembles in the United States practicing truly experimental music.” (I Care If You Listen)
Founded on the principles of curiosity, change, and caring communication, TAK is dedicated to the commissioning of new works and direct collaboration with composers and other artists and they have premiered hundreds of works to date. TAK delivers energetic performances "that combine crystalline clarity with the disorienting turbulence of a sonic vortex” (The WIRE), and “impresses with the organicity of their sound, their dynamism and virtuosity” (New Sounds, WQXR).
